ARMA San Francisco 2017
Alan and Lingyun Kong went to the ARMA conference in San Francisco, Calif. Lingyun got the oral presentation, while Alan and Kouqi had poster presentations. The common theme at the conference was rock mechanics, fracturing; several posters were about the nano-indentation methods, which Kouqi has been exploring. Some other shale formations, such Vaca Muerta in Argentina, had been actively studied by researchers. The location was very nice, right in the middle next to a Union Square, and the hotel itself was luxurious (The Westin).
There was also a nice breakfast, banquet, and social hour events at the conference. A lot of people from all over the world came to this event. Next year it'll be in Seattle, and I'm sure some of our students will again have a chance to present.
It was also a great opportunity to explore the cities of San Francisco and Las Vegas!
We'll be looking forward to our next travels!
